When the best suburbs demand the best

Town of Mosman Park smart bin upgrades – ‘higher level benefits’

The Town of Mosman Park has one of the highest per capita incomes of any Council in Australia. Expectations can, therefore, be very high in this exclusive area. It is also one of the most punishing, metal-rusting climates in WA being situated between ‘river and sea’ in what is one of the windiest headlands not only in Australia but anywhere in the world (Leighton Beach is a renowned global kite-surfing hotspot).

So when it comes to engineered outdoor metal products the Town needs the best. In this case, however, the product not only had to last but had to:

1)         look good (for a minimum 7 years under contract),
2)         be maintenance-free to the Council and
3)         be free.

No mean brief!

We, as the prospective lifetime maintenance provider, needed to make sure the final product  gave both the Town and ourselves a problem-free existence (we would pay if not!!).

This combination of expectations and severe climate meant that the Town could not afford engineering short-cuts. So, from 2017 the ToMP undertook a thorough and  exhaustive process  to find a replacement for their Modern bin surrounds that included a local-business support model. In the end this became a 2 year study that included:

  • community consultation with active advertising sites
  • engineering review and,
  • full ToMP Councillor review & inspection

The Town was looking for a smart alternative and, in the end, found a way to avoid paying ‘..a considerable cost of approximately $2,800 each’. The yStop Pulse was considered the best value offering ‘higher level benefits for both the Town and the Community’
